It's fitting and superb power-down for this "Balearic Chainsaw. Working out an Italo/nu-disco throb, Gazeebo's slinky rendition hits all the tingle buttons, giving us a slow-motion refuge that still packs a low-end punch. Euphoric motion for the most summery of dancefloors … it's a classic Hardkiss maneuver.Ī party like this needs a proper come-down, and for our back-to-mine moment we've enlisted the reputable chops of Gazeebo, mainstay of Denver's Community Recordings. Wild swirls of sound take control of this special version, aided by the unexpected contribution of DJ Afro from Los Amigos Invisibles, supplying his own dueling flamenco guitar strums and riffs. Then there's Scott's remarkable Sueño Brooklyno variation. Not content with such mere musical coolness, Scott enlisted the gorgeous vocal contribution of Stevvi Alexander to further the "Balearic Chainsaw" message. His mix is a rising force, solid rhythms and huggable bass lines anchoring a building swarm of piano, guitar, and cosmic, acid atmosphere. Who else could be more perfect for such flights of fancy than our long-time chum Scott Hardkiss? Coming off the brilliant Technicolor Dreamer album on his own God Within label, Scott tackled "Balearic Chainsaw" with a combination of gusto and happenstance. The requests have been answered, and this new version features an added groove coda that should send your neighbors dancing into the moonbeams. To our surprise, friends and foes alike asked for a longer version to send resonating over the waterfront. The piano-fueled, flamenco guitar-kissed version was hidden as the last song in the single. The original "Balearic Chainsaw" is an extended, beefier version of what was previously found on the "Chainsaw" single, released spring 2011 on EIGHT-TRACKS. We blissfully believe this could be the sound of the "Balearic Chainsaw." ![]() But we're talking about a chainsaw wielded by beardy types, waving its mirror ball excess over sunrise-stroked beach sand. Imagine such a devious device honed for dancefloor devastation, its rumble tuned to bassbin frequencies as its saw cuts through beats and melody. But their rock backgrounds really shine with originals like Toll Booth Blues and Bad Ride Suicide.True story: Q-Burns Abstract Message once DJ'ed underneath a weighty chainsaw covered in disco ball mirror squares, rotating roundly with silver beams flying off its blade. it all certainly ties together as they're pickin' & grinnin' about the trials and tribulations of a driver, his rig, truckstops & cafes, smokey bears, & women across the land! They certainly center off more traditional grass-roots sound with original songs like Highway is My Home and Thank God for this C.B., and also encompass a grittier outlaw sound with Anything Leavin' Town and Truck Drivin' Son-of-a-Gun. In other words, they encompass a variety of musical flavors while maintaining a constant thread and theme.TRUCK DRIVIN'! That's not to suggest that they roll out an eclectic mish-mash of tunes. While the Truckadours' music is originally derived from truckin' roots of "raw" ol' time country and bluegrassy songs along with the outlaw sounds of the 70's & 80's, they have certainly taken it to a whole different level! Jimbo Darville & the Truckadours are truly one of very few bands (if not the only one) that write and play "subject specific" music versus "genre specific" songs/styles. Today, the Gas Pops continue to bend genres and electrify live audiences with ferocious sincerity. In 2018 they made Billboard’s top 10 Spotify chart, as well as Pandora’s top 10 Trend Setters list. ![]() Over the last four years, they have toured throughout the U.S., Belgium, the Netherlands, and Belize. Gasoline Lollipops are two-time winners of 105.5 The Colorado Sound’s Best Colorado Band award, three-time winners of Colorado Daily’s “Best Local Band” award, and two-time winners of Denver Westword’s “Best Country Band” award. They each add flavors of their own background and heritage, further diversifying the band’s signature sound. The rest of the band consists of Don Ambory, Scott Coulter, “Bad” Brad Morse, and Kevin Matthews who all come equipped with music degrees from Chicago, Boston, Jacksonville, and Denver, respectively. ![]() ![]() Clay’s penchant for open roads and trouble making are the backbone of the Gas Pops’ sound. Los Amigos Invisibles 100393 fans A performance-oriented Latin dance band from Venezuela heavily indebted to funk and disco (with a dash of acid jazz), los Amigos Invisibles made a big splash in their homeland in 1995 with their debut album, A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band, which featured odd Japanese anim-style artwork. Front man, Clay Rose was raised between an outlaw, truck-driving father in the mountains of Colorado and a country song-writing mama in the sticks outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Gasoline Lollipops stitch scraps of American roots music to patches of their own tattered hearts to form an all-new tapestry of bleeding rock n’ roll.
